The new Hioki 3490 analogue insulation/continuity tester from Power Parameters

Power Parameters  provide the new Hioki 3490 analogue insulation/continuity tester, designed with the testing requirements of AS/NZS3017 and the industrial as well as domestic installation. The Hioki 3490, can perform insulation tests in confined and dark spaces.

A remote control probe is available, which has both a Test ON/OFF switch and a LED illuminating the area to be connected to. Similarly a white LED lights up the analogue scale so that it can be comfortably read in darkened environments.

The standard test pins are also designed for convenience as well as safety. They are 35 mm long with an insulating sleeve covering them, and they can be used to probe conveniently at distribution boards without removing breaker covers.

The Hioki 3490 is equipped with 250, 500 and1000 Volt test ranges providing 100 Megohm and 4000 Megohm insulation resistance ranges. The instrument also has 3 and 30 Ohm resistance ranges. The 30 Ohm range is particularly suited to the 5 Ohm and 15 Ohm resistor polarity check of GPOs, while the 3 Ohm range allows accurate earth loop impedance testing as specified by AS/NZS3017.

A bright, white LED illuminates the easy-to-read scales which include live circuit voltage measurement to 600 Volt AC. The Hioki 3490 is supplied with a flip-cover instrument case allowing the storage of plugged-in probes for added convenience and safe storage of the instrument in a toolbox.
